EXPLAINING MY CHOICES

I never like to move forward with a design choice simply because ‘it looks cool’.
When I was assigned to this project, I was searching for a way to encompass all of the great moments captured in both tournaments. The phrase ‘history on the hardwood’ came to mind, so I decided to rip apart a photo of basketball court flooring to incorporate images into. The same photo is used in every single graphic throughout, in a few different manner of styles.

All design/concepts created and executed myself, with direction/feedback provided from the senior design manager.

All images found and properly attributed myself. Ranging from 1950s-today, and from various online sources.

This project was made possible with the collaborative effort from journalists, editors and managers throughout the USA TODAY Network!
